This client came to us having recently moved into their new home in a retirement village in Strood. The client wanted to make this place their own, so alongside other bits, they called us in to deal with their electrics.
They had 3 old asbestos-containing economy 7 storage heaters, that they wanted to replace with standard electric radiators. When we initially went to visit, we did advise them on their options regarding sticking to economy 7, or moving away from the economy 7 tariff. They ended up choosing to come away from the economy 7 setup.
two of the three radiators were mounted on stud walls - yuck! So part of our quote was to hatch these stud walls, and build up a more solid foundation inside the walls, before reinstating the plasterboard hatch.
Before quoting, we researched the existing storge heaters to identify if we had any known asbestos containing heaters we would be working on. All three of these models came back positive, so we planned accordingly and arranged the safe removal of the storage heaters by a third party - all pre-determined, pre-planned, and quoted for so there were no nasty surprises for the customer.
All the radiators were the bulk of the project, the client also asked us to carry out some other works, namely adding 3 extra sockets so they had more points in the living room and bedroom, and a socket under the stairs so they can charge their hoover.
We also changed their fluorescent striplight for a more modern looking spotlight bar fitting.
All in a (couple) days work!
