Extractor Fan Installers Serving Medway & Maidstone
So many properties suffer with condensation and the resulting mould. Read further to see if we can help you with your property ventilation, effectively reducing condensation which can often cause damp & mould on areas such as the top floor ceilings, on and around windows, and externally facing walls. So, What are our methods to the dreaded condensation, damp & mould?
Our most popular solutions to the obvious condensation issues are the mechanical ventilation solutions. That is the technical term for using fans to either push fresh, drier air into the building, and to remove the moist-laden air produced inside the building out! Significant areas of interest for extracting moisture laden air out of the property is in kitchens and bathrooms - it is no coincidence that is where you tend to find them!
Don't like the idea of having a bulky extractor fan on the wall? We can fit nice kitchen extractors that add to the feel of the kitchen, and if you have loft space above your bathroom, we can hide the fan in in the loft! And talking about loft space, this is where we ideally like to site our PIVs - Positive Input Ventilation systems - to help push dry, slightly warm air compared to directly outside, back into the property. This helps push out the moisture laden air that naturally builds up inside a residential property.
And for the most part, we're not talking fluffy solutions - we're talking about specifying powerful fans - ideally our favourite in-line fans - to do the job of really pushing the air in, around, and out, of your property. Read more about our favourite extractor fans here and here! And extractor fans aren't going to provide the same sort of performance if they're not installed properly. You want an extraction system that reduces air drag as much as possible, and stops water collecting in the ducting and coming back down into your property!
Do extractor fans actually work to stop condensation?
When powerful extractor fans are installed well, they can really put a fight up against condensation caused my normal day-to-day lifestyle-related causes. Lifestyle related causes could be: having nice and hot steamy showers on the regular, it can also be drying your clothes indoors, it can also be not opening windows because its cold outside. It could be a well populated house with many adults increasing the moisture levels in the property. To find out more read our blog here.
When don't extractor fans work to stop condensation?
Extractor fans won't always help if the humidity is down to water ingress. That could be: A roof leak, leaking plumbing, or rising damp. Extractor fans can also perform poorly because they're just not up to the job for the task at hand, or have been installed incorrectly. With all of this in mind, when we speak to you to find out the symptoms you're experiencing, we will try to rule out the cases where extractor fans won't necessarily help you. We don't want to sell our services for it to not benefit our clients. It's a bad business practice, makes us look silly, and that client is going to go elsewhere and never recommend us again. Extractor fans, for the most part, only compensate for lifestyle-related causes, and many households do genuinely fit in this category.
